A little background of the art you submitted - They're just an
assortment of doodles I did for the heck of it; it started with Ynnir and went
from there, trying to explore what critters would look like with no limits
on what they COULD look like; tweaking some 16th century fashion, etc. Eventually I'll have time to do a "finished" piece...

I'm a part time graphic designer for a sports management company, and a former comic book inker. I recently have given up comic books to focus my time on my first novel. I have a B.S. in English, Language, and Literature from Eastern Michigan University. I'm 25, have a beautiful wife and 2 wonderful children ages 5 and 2. I
enjoy Tad's stories and felt the need to contribute something to the image
of Shadowmarch as it develops. I first found out about Shadowmarch in the
pages of River of Blue Fire and was probably a little zealous in my waiting
for the launch. I enjoy cooking, gardening, reading, basketball (when I get the chance), writing, movies, music, and my family.

The pieces I submitted were done almost completely in the digital environment. For my first piece I wanted a haunting image of a forest edge and ended up finding the
perfect piece of photography in my stock art collection from work. I added
quite a few filters and hue and saturation adjustments to get the feel I
wanted with it. I also wanted to incorporate the Shadowmarch logo and to add
a blurb that made it feel like a promo piece. Looks good on the desktop
too :)

My image with the Qar had a different feel for me. I start
with a pen and ink drawing of a creature, seeing as how they had a very open
ended description to them, and then colored it in Photoshop to the best of
my limited abilities. I wanted to give it the feel of the Qar having the power to watch over the forests of their lands and I added a few little illuminated globes of magic to the picture as well. Once again the photograph was taken from piece of my stock art collection (and yes it IS licensed) and I applied similar filters as in the first while trying to convey a sense of a painted background. There is still a lot of room
for improvement obviously, but I plan to also do some rather abstract sketches
in the future as time allows.
